SPRING RETREAT 2015

I'm gathering my list for spring retreat!  If you are interested in attending please leave a comment below or personally email me and I'll add you to the list.  I need 25 people to sign up before I can do a contract with the retreat center.  The spring retreat usually has lower attendance and I just want to make sure we can meet the minimums!

If I am able to get enough interest it will be March (5) 6, 7 & 8, 2015.

Once enough people have signed up I will open the paypal button up for payments.  I would like to have a final list by November 28th if possible.  The retreat center will not hold my dates without a deposit but if I put down a deposit and we can't make the minimums we lose the deposit!  So it's a bit of a conundrum!!

LAST MINUTE DETAILS

Every thing is in place!  Check out all the details, pack up your stuff and plan on a great weekend!

THURSDAY ARRIVALS:  You may begin arriving at 2:00 pm on November 6.  Remember it's bare bones...no food, no drink, no service!  But there is a bed and scrapbooking space all to yourselves!  What more could you ask for?

FRIDAY ARRIVALS:  You may begin arriving at 2:00 pm on November 7.  We will have unlimited pop, water, tea and coffee beginning this night but no supper.

The camp will provide bed linens, pillows, two sets of towels per room and a bar of soap!

Music...the camp has a sound system that I'm allowed to use!  I will accept any suggestions for music (except for Rap...that is just noise and not music) to put into a play list.  If you do not give me suggestions it will be my pick!  So send some titles/artists my way.  PLEASE DO NOT PLAY MOVIES, MUSIC OR SKYPE without the use of  personal headphones.  I'll plan to have an easy listening play-list for the day and a more "classically slanted" selection for those of us staying up past 11:00 pm!!

The parking lot is located in the rear of the building as well as the entrance to our scrapbooking room.  Please plan to unload everything at this door.  I will try to get a map of the campus uploaded before the retreat.  The entrance to the camp has been moved and was a little confusing last fall.

Friday supper will be on your own.  There are quite a few local restaurants to chose from which are only 5 minutes away from camp.

The camp will be providing Saturday breakfast, Saturday supper and Sunday brunch.  Fountain drinks, water, coffee and tea will also be available for the entire weekend.

Snacks are welcomed and appreciated.  Remember that there is no refrigerator available to keep things cold. The camp is also extremely picky about crockpots, something about needing proper temps, only running for 4 hours, blah, blah, blah...I lost interested.  So basically forget snacks that require a crock pot!

The camp has a very strict policy on alcohol, drug and cigarette usage on campus.  NONE of them are allowed.  If they even find use of these products in the trash cans (empty wine bottles or cigarette remains) I will be fined $250 for cleaning and an extra $100 for the violation.  That means I will be passing along those lovely costs to YOU!  So leave the treats at home...

I will have scrapbooking supplies on hand from Close To My Heart.  If you need something specific please let me know ahead of time.

2014 RETREAT UPDATE!

Oh you are soooo going to love this update!  Ever thought to yourself...self (or whatever you call yourself) I really need one more day to scrapbook.

Well that thought is going to be a reality!!  Through some fancy talking with the camp (ok I just really asked in a nice voice) I was able to open the retreat up on Thursday, November 6, 2014!!  How awesome is that?  

WHEN:  November 6
TIME:  4:00 pm
FEE:  $80 per room
INCLUDES:  Sleeping room and scrapbooking space.  No pop, no food.
PAYMENT:  Use the buttons to the right for payment.  If you plan to come on Thursday just let me know so I can save a room and add you to the list.  Have a check ready AT THE CAMP for $40 or $80, depending upon your situation.  Adding additional buttons to accommodate all the payment choices was mind boggling!  So I'm keeping it simple.

Pay $119 if you placed a deposit last year.  Pay $144 to pay in full right now.  If you want to come on Thursday have a check ready for me at the camp for $40 or $80.  It's that easy.

The camp charges me based upon how many rooms we use.  It is $80 for a room.  If there are two people sharing a room it will only be $40 per person for a entire extra day of scrapbooking!  If your roommate can't come on Thursday then you will need to pay the entire $80 room fee OR find a friend to share a room with.  I can post a list of people needing roommates and then we can work out sleeping arrangements if necessary.

Can't make it an extra day?  Not a problem!  Just plan to arrive on Friday and scrapbook as usual.  We will be able to get in early on Friday so you won't have to wait until 2:00 pm to arrive and get set-up.

2014 FALL RETREAT - CELEBRATING MY 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF RETREATS!

I can't believe that I'm getting ready to celebrate 10 years of offering scrapbooking retreats!  This year we will once again be returning to Epworth Forest in North Webster, IN.

Payment options have changed this year.  I will only be accepting Paypal (available by clicking to the right!). This will ease my accounting issues (meaning I won't have to go to the bank that is 600 miles away!) and prevent me from losing checks.  If you cannot use Paypal please contact me and we can work something out!

RETREAT DATES:  NOVEMBER 7, 8 & 9, 2014

CAMP INFO
We will be staying in Freeland House which is a hotel style facility.  There will be private rooms with either a queen size bed or 2 twin beds.  16 of the rooms have twin beds and 8 of the rooms have a queen size bed.  I will be filling the rooms on a first come/first serve basis.  Just let me know your room-mates name and if you would like a queen or twin beds.   Each room has a private bathroom with linen and towels included.  Four of the rooms are handicap accessible on the first floor.   There is also a beautiful lobby/lounge area on each floor completely with couches, fireplace and beautiful views of the lake.


Our scrapbooking and dining hall are located in the basement/lower level of Freeland House.  I believe there were 12-15 steps to get down to the lower level.  There is a parking lot behind the building that has drive-up access to our scrapbooking room.  So you will be able to easily unload/load your scrapbooking supplies without using the stairs.  There are windows on three walls of the scrapbooking room but the majority of our light will be from overhead lighting.   I believe we can get 32 tables into this room for scrapbooking.  I can fit another 6-8 tables in the lobby/lounge area as over-flow seating.  That means I'm going to have to limit this retreat to the first 40 guests.



The dining hall is also located in the lower level.  We will have 24/3 (since we are only there for 3 days!) access to all the fountain pop and coffee that you can drink.  Meals are served buffet style and after talking with the chef they sounded pretty nice.  Certainly not typical camp food!  He can accommodate food allergies such as gluten-free and dairy free.  If you have a special diet please notify me and I'll speak with him and come up with a plan.


The entire House was clean, the staff is nice and easy to work with and they are well organized!

RETREAT FEES
This years retreat registration will provide:
1 6ft scrapbooking table and comfy chair
Private room with linens--room shared with a friend (leave your sleeping bags at home!)
Private bathroom with towels
(Completely private rooms based on availability)
3 meals--Saturday breakfast, Saturday supper, Sunday brunch--which is huge!
Prize drawings
Unlimited fountain pop and coffee/tea/hot chocolate/water

All this is included for $144 per person based upon double occupancy!

FOOD POLICY
The camp has some strict rules about bringing food into the building.  We are allowed to bring snacks but there is only a small refrigerator available.  If you want to bring a crock-pot they require that it only be turned on for 4 hours and it must have a thermometer in the food during those 4 hours.  AND I can only allow 2 crock-pots for our entire group.   But aside from those rules we will be able to have our traditional snack table and  feast all weekend long.  (I think coolers would be fine and it will probably be cold enough in your car to keep cheese and fruit/veggies cold)  To keep costs down everyone will be on their own for Friday night supper.  There are several restaurants in the town, including Subway, local pizza and other local diners plus a grocery store.  I think those options are cheaper than what the camp wants to charge us for supper.

TIME
We can get into Freeland House on Friday the 7th at 2:00 pm.  The retreat will end on the 9th at 2:00 pm. Registration for Early-bird pricing will be open until September 25, 2014.  After September 25th please add a $10 late fee.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  Retreat fees will be refunded in full, minus a $25 deposit fee, until October 14, 2014. Registrations cancelled after October 14th will not be reimbursed. If you have a family emergency or become ill the weekend of the retreat please contact me immediately.  I cannot forward deposit fees to future retreats.

PAYMENT METHOD
I now offer credit card payments through Paypal!  Doesn't get any easier than that.  Just click the payment option on the right and you are all set.  You will only be able to pay in full with a credit card.  No deposits will be accepted by credit card.  This year I am requesting that everyone pay with the Paypal option.  For my record keeping purposes it is SO much easier to just accept credit payments.  IF you are completely opposed to using this service please contact me and we can work something out!

MAILING
I will be mailing out postcard reminders again this summer.  Feel free to pass the information along to friends and family.  I also have a Facebook Group list which gives you quick access to information.  (Retreat Lady Scrapbooking Retreats.)

BABIES, CLEANING & SCRAPBOOKING...THEY BELONG TOGETHER...RIGHT??

Want to clean out your scrapbooking stash AND help some beautiful babies?  I thought you might!

Bring your unwanted, leftover, wrong-color-I-don't-know-what-I-was-thinking paper, stickers, albums and stamps to the Spring Retreat!  We will set up a swap area to allow everyone a chance to trade-up and get rid of their supplies.  Once the swapping has finished all the left-over supplies will be donated to a local hospital NICU.  From there parents will be able to document their baby's progress through the use of free scrapbooking supplies.

So go clean out those boxes and bags before the retreat!!  Thanks Tina for following through with this project.

Here is my first attempt at room-mate assignments.  Please let me know if something needs to be changed. The camp will be using 3 of the downstairs bedrooms for a Pastor's conference, so we will have mixed company on the floor.  Once you arrive at camp I will give you your assigned room number and the key to the room.
