SPRING RETREAT 2014

Registration is now open for the 2014 Spring Retreat!  The retreat will be held at Epworth Forest in North Webster, Indiana March 7, 8 & 9.

RETREAT SET-UP
We will be staying in Freeland House which is a hotel style facility.  There will be private rooms with either a queen size bed or 2 twin beds.  16 of the rooms have twin beds and 5 of the rooms have a queen size bed.  I will be filling the rooms on a first come/first serve basis.  Just let me know your room-mates name and if you would like a queen or twin beds.  Each room has a private bathroom with linen and towels included.  There is also a beautiful lobby/lounge area on each floor completely with couches, fireplace and beautiful views of the lake.

Our scrapbooking and dining hall are located in the basement/lower level of Freeland House.  I believe there were 12-15 steps to get down to the lower level.  There is a parking lot behind the building that has drive-up access to our scrapbooking room.  So you will be able to easily unload/load your scrapbooking supplies without using the stairs.  There are windows on three walls of the scrapbooking room but the majority of our light will be from overhead lighting.

The dining hall is also located in the lower level next to our scrapbooking room.  We will have full access to all the fountain pop and coffee that you can drink.  Meals are served buffet style and are prepared on site by a chef!   He can accommodate food allergies such as gluten-free and dairy free.  If you have a special diet please notify me and I'll speak with him and come up with a plan.   We will be sharing the dining hall with other groups that are also staying on campus.

RETREAT FEES
This years retreat registration will provide:
1 6ft scrapbooking table and comfy chair
Private room with linens--room shared with a friend (leave your sleeping bags at home!)
Private bathroom with towels
3 meals--Saturday breakfast, Saturday supper, Sunday brunch--which is huge!
Prize drawings
Unlimited fountain pop and coffee/tea/hot chocolate/water

All this is included for $140 per person based upon double occupancy.  If you require a completely private room please email me directly for availability and pricing.

As of December I have 22 spots filled for this retreat which means only 16 spots remain open.  The camp is renting out 3 of the hotel rooms to another group so we have a few less spots that I will be able to fill for this retreat.  I will keep the registrations open until all the remaining 16 spots are filled and then I will start a waiting list.

Payments can be mailed directly to me or payed by debit/credit card through Paypal.  Early bird registration ends January 15th.  All payments received or postmarked after January need to add $10 late fee.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  Retreat fees will be refunded in full, minus a $25 deposit fee, until February 21, 2014.  Registrations cancelled after February 21 will not be reimbursed.  If you have a family emergency or become ill the weekend of the retreat please contact me immediately.  I cannot forward deposit fees to future retreats.

MASSAGES
For the Fall Retreat I was able to offer a massage therapist.  She ended up being a wonderful addition to the weekend and I plan to hire her to come back for this retreat.  She charges $30 for 30 minutes and $60 for an hour massage.  All payments will be made directly to the therapist and sign ups will be made at the retreat.

MASSAGES!

Want a massage after a grueling day of scrapbooking and laughing with friends and family?  Well there is a possibility that your dream could become a reality!

I was contacted by a certified massage therapist today and she would like to offer her services at our retreat.  1 hour massages will be $60 and 30 minute massages will be $30.

I need a minimum amount of people to sign up to make this possible.  So if you are interested in a personal massage email me immediately and we'll get  the ball rolling.

If the response is greater than the number of spots available we might have to do only 30 minute massages so that everyone can participate.

IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN...

The time has come for the 2013 Fall Retreat!  Here are the last minute details and a few rules thrown in for good measure.  (and because the camp is making me say most of them!)

~  You may arrive at the camp starting at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 8.

~  If you park in the front of Freeland House you walk directly into the lounge area.  I will have room assignments posted so you can unload your suitcases.  You may also unload your scrapbooking items at this point if you want.  Scrapbooking items will need to be taken downstairs to the basement.  OR you may drive around to the back of the building and unload your scrapbooking items at the back door.

~ Friday supper will be on your own.  There are several restaurants and a grocery store in town (only a quick 4 minutes away).

~  Snacks are welcome and I will plan to have a snack table available for the weekend.  Just keep in mind that there will not be a refrigerator available for our use.  Crock-pots are also considered tools of the devil and are only allowed if they contain a thermometer, the temps are maintained properly and are left on no longer than 4 hours...who does all of that?    If you bring dishes you cannot wash them in the bathroom sinks. Plan to wash them at home.

~ Music...please bring your own headphones if you are wanting to listen to music.  I might try to play a mix tape (ha!) from Grooveshark or Spotify once or twice during the weekend and see how it goes.  I know some people enjoy quiet and others enjoy music.  So we'll try it this weekend and see the response.

~ Don't forget to bring your PHOTOS, scrapbooking supplies, personal care items, extension cord and possibly a desk lamp.  I don't know the lighting situation in the scrapbooking room so it's better to be prepared.  There are small windows on 3 sides of the room and regular florescent lighting above.

~ The camp will provide pillows, bed lines and towels.  There will be one set of towels per person, per room.

~ The camp has a very strict policy on alcohol, drug and cigarette usage on the campus.  Basically NONE of them are allowed.  If they even find use of these products in the trash can (empty wine bottles or cigarette remains) I will be fined an extra $250 for cleaning and an extra $100 for the violation.

I think that about covers all the "rules"!  I will have a limited supply of Close To My Heart products available for purchase at the retreat.  Remember that the purchase of these products is what helps me to keep the retreats costs low!

Any questions?  Feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to help you out!  See you this weekend.

REGISTRATIONS ARE CLOSED

I can't believe that is an actual title post!  I officially have to close down registrations at this moment as we have reached 40 guests.  Unbelievable.  A big thank you to everyone for inviting friends and family!  It should be a wonderful retreat.

If you missed getting into the retreat please contact me.  At this point I am putting people on a waiting list.  If the waiting list gets big enough then I will contact the retreat center and see if we can expand our retreat. There are over-flow areas that could be used but I would need enough people to make it worth the while.

On a less positive note...we have to WAIT 9 long weeks before the retreat!  I'm in the mood to scrapbook now so it's going to be a long wait!

Don't forget that early-bird registration ends on September 15th.  After September 15th the price of the retreat goes up $10 per person!  So save yourself $10 and Paypal or mail me a check.  There's only 10 days left!!

Need scrapbooking supplies??  Get FREE shipping in the month of September on all CTMH orders.  Orders must be given directly to me and I will bring your supplies to the retreat.  Everyone always needs more tape, basic white card stock and a few new embellishments!  The new Fall/Winter catalog arrived this month so check it out and send me your order!  www.jingerw.ctmh.com

FALL RETREAT 2013

I always get so excited when I book a retreat center for a weekend of scrapbooking!  The thrill of planning, organizing and executing an entire weekend with friends and family is a lot of fun.  This year is even more exciting because we will be attending a whole new camp.

Camp Lutherhaven was a wonderful location that met our needs for almost 5 years.  But I was realizing that we needed to find a new camp that better suited our ever changing group.  After hearing about Epworth Forest I took a day trip to North Webster to see this new camp.  I think you are all going to be pretty happy with what I found!

CAMP INFO
We will be staying in Freeland House which is a hotel style facility.  There will be private rooms with either a queen size bed or 2 twin beds.  16 of the rooms have twin beds and 8 of the rooms have a queen size bed.  I will be filling the rooms on a first come/first serve basis.  Just let me know your room-mates name and if you would like a queen or twin beds.  Each room has a private bathroom with linen and towels included.  Four of the rooms are handicap accessible on the first floor.

I believe we can get 32 tables into this room for scrapbooking.  I can fit another 6-8 tables in the lobby/lounge area as over-flow seating.  That means I'm going to have to limit this retreat to the first 40 guests.

The dining hall is also located in the lower level.  We will have 24/3 (since we are only there for 3 days!) access to all the fountain pop and coffee that you can drink.  Meals are served buffet style and after talking with the chef they sounded pretty nice.  Certainly not typical camp food!  He can accommodate food allergies such as gluten-free and dairy free.  If you have a special diet please notify me and I'll speak with him and come up with a plan.   We will be sharing the dining hall with another group that is staying in another part of the camp.

The entire House was clean, the staff is nice and easy to work with and they seem to be well organized!  The price is fair for what we are getting and I believe this location will fit our group very well.

WHAT I NEED!
The camp needs a deposit to hold our space and regular payments to be made before the retreat.  It is very helpful on my end if I ask for a $25 per person NON-REFUNDABLE deposit.  It holds your spot and helps me to know how many guests to expect.

RETREAT FEES
This years retreat registration will provide:
1 6ft scrapbooking table and comfy chair (these are nice tables not discarded doors made to look like tables--fail camp Lutherhaven!)
Private room with linens--room shared with a friend (leave your sleeping bags at home!)
Private bathroom with towels
(Completely private rooms available upon request)
3 meals--Saturday breakfast, Saturday supper, Sunday brunch--which is huge!
Prize drawings--they're back!!!
Unlimited fountain pop and coffee/tea/hot chocolate/water

All this is included for $120 per person based upon double occupancy!  That is $10-20 cheaper than last years retreat  Completely private rooms will be $170 per person.

FOOD POLICY
The camp has some strict rules about bringing food into the building.  We are allowed to bring snacks but there is NO refrigerator space available.  If you want to bring a crock-pot they require that it only be turned on for 4 hours and it must have a thermometer in the food during those 4 hours.  AND I can only allow 2 crock-pots for our entire group.  So that pretty much rules out Friday night potluck!  But aside from those rules we will be able to have our traditional snack table and  feast all weekend long.  (I think coolers would be fine and it will probably be cold enough in your car to keep cheese and fruit/veggies cold)  To keep costs down everyone will be on their own for Friday night supper.  There are several restaurants in the town, including Subway, local pizza and other local diners plus a grocery store.  I think those options are cheaper than what the camp wants to charge us for supper.

TIME
We can get into Freeland House on Friday the 8th at 2:00 pm.  The retreat will end on the 10th at 2:00 pm.  Registration is open now and your $25 deposit will hold your spot.  The remainder of the fee will be due September 15, 2013.  The deposit is non-refundable, unless you find someone to take your place.  If you pay for the retreat in full and should require a refund on the remainder it will be given until October 8.  No refunds will be given after October 9.  If you should have a family emergency or get sick the weekend of the retreat please contact me immediately to see if we can fill your spot.

CASH OR CREDIT
I now offer credit card payments through Paypal!  Doesn't get any easier than that.  Just click the payment option on the right and you are all set.  You will only be able to pay in full with a credit card.  No deposits will be accepted by credit card.  Cash and checks are still welcome and can be mailed directly to me.  Address is also located in the right.

MAILING
I will be mailing out postcard reminders again this summer.  Feel free to pass the information along to friends and family.  I also have a Facebook Group list which gives you quick access to information.  (Retreat Lady Scrapbooking Retreats.)

2013 SPRING RETREAT

It's that time again!!  The 2012 Spring Scrapbooking Retreat is right around the corner and now is the time to get signed up! We will be back at Camp Friedenswald in Cassopolis, MI.  The camp will open at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 15th and end at 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 17th.  (Don't forget to wear your green!)

There will be two options for sleeping arrangements.  The Guest House or the Modern Cabins.

The Guest House has 9 bedrooms.  Each room contains 2 sets of bunk beds which sleep up to 4 guests each.  Last year we did find that one of the upper bunks is rather slim!  So while you can sleep 4 people in each room the 4th bed is small.   Each room also has a private bathroom!  The Guesthouse is directly across the courtyard from the dining hall where we will be scrapbooking and eating.

The Modern Cabins were built 5 years ago and will sleep up to 10 people with 5 sets of bunk beds.  They are spacious with a vaulted ceiling and very clean.  Each Cabin contains its own bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink.  The Cabins are located directly behind the dining hall with paved pathways to each cabin.

FEES:
Good News...The prices for the retreat this year did not increase!!  The fees for the scrapbooking weekend will be based upon occupancy.  The more people you have in a room the cheaper the rate will be!  This is a very economical retreat so bring your friends and get in at a great rate.

GUESTHOUSE:
4 People = $102 per person
3 People = $114 per person
2 People = $137 per person
1 Person = $207 per person

CABINS:
10 People = $86 per person
9 People = $88 per person
8 People = $91 per person
7 People = $95 per person
6 People = $99 per person
5 People = $105 per person
4 People = $115 per person
3 People = $131 per person
2 People = $162 per person

These prices include two nights lodging, 4 meals and scrapbooking space.  Plan to bring your own pillow, bedding and towels.  These will not be provided.

Want to get in a cabin at a great 10 person rate but only have 2 friends?  Not a problem! I can put groups together if everyone is open to that plan.  Please indicate that you would like a cheaper rate and I will start combining friends together until we reach the limit!  That way everyone benefits from a cheaper rate.  You will also need to let me know if you can sleep on a top bunk or must have a bottom bunk.  Please realize that there are only 5 bottom bunks per cabin.

The camp will be providing all meals for this event.  They have a chef on staff that prepares the food from scratch or as close to it as they can!  Last year the food was good and there was plenty of it.  The camp provides coffee, hot tea, hot cocoa and water at no additional charge.  Juices and lemon-aid were provided at each meal.  If you have food issues please let me know so I can alert the chef.  I can't guarantee what she can do but there might be options!

Our scrapbooking space will be in the dining hall.  It is large and open with plenty of natural light during the day.   Depending upon your preference you may wish to bring a table lamp.  We will be eating and scrapbooking in the same building.  There are couches, a fireplace, a specialty coffee shop and a game room if you should need a break.  There are also lots of trails for walking and running.

This retreat will be limited to the first 35 guests.  Depending upon attendance I might have to place 2 people per table.  I do not like doing that but the camp only has 15 rectangular tables...thus I'm limited!  Luckily the tables are really large 8 ft tables so it shouldn't be too much of an issue on space.  I'll let you know the table situation when we get closer to the retreat.

Snacks are welcome.  We will have a refrigerator to use during the weekend but no use of the kitchen.  There was a microwave available but no oven or stove.

DEADLINES & RULES:
February 25 will be the deadline for early bird registration.  After February 25 add $10 to each registration.

As for payments, I realize that it is difficult to know how much you need to pay especially if you are staying in the cabins!  If you are planning to sleep in the cabins and want to be combined with another group just send in the 10 People Rate, $86.  If we do not get enough people in your cabin to reach the 10 People Rate I will just charge you the difference upon arrival at the camp.  I will notify you before the retreat if you will owe more money or not.

If you are planning to stay in the Guesthouse please let me know the names of your room-mates so I can be sure to group you together.

Registration will open immediately and will close once we reach the maximum of 35 guests.  Please mail your checks directly to me:

Jinger Woodring
220 W 11th Street
Fairmont, MN 56031

CANCELLATION POLICY:  Retreat fees will be refunded in full, minus a $25 deposit fee, until March 8, 2013.  Registrations cancelled after March 8 will not be reimbursed.  If you have a family emergency or become ill the weekend of the retreat please contact me immediately.

I will have a variety of Close To My Heart inventory available during the weekend.  If you are interested in a particular item or paper pack just let me know.  I do appreciate your purchases as they help off-set the cost of having merchandise on-hand.
